Pet Tales
Our pets feel like family members, and we grieve them the same way. Your pet’s obituary may never make it to the local newspaper, but it can still provide an enormous amount of solace for you and any other family members or friends.

Shaka
Thank you for your gentle and caring ways. It is always difficult to lose a family pet but your kindness and compassion are so appreciated.
Gloria
Gloria of Chester, Virginia passed away on June 28, 2022 at the ripe old age of 14 ½ years. She was born in November 2007 and lived with her humans Josh (Owner), Thomas, Mom and Dad, three cats, and an African sideneck turtle. She spent her days basking on her favorite flat rock under her heat and UV lamps. She found great excitement on cricket feeding days, ending each catch with a satisfying crunch. In between, she loved to chomp on yummy wild dandelion heads or baby spinach. She will forever be in our hearts.
Freyja
My name is Heaveyn I got Freyja as an early Birthday gift, she was five weeks old when I got her. We grew up side by side together. She became my best friend my emotional support animal and she was taken from me due to a house fire on my brothers 16th birthday. Freyja I know you are no longer here and I miss you more and more each day but I know when you crossed that rainbow bridge your waiting for me on the other side one day. So although this is I’ll see you later for now I’ll never say goodbye but save a spot for me right beside you and I love u and miss you more each day.
Jupiter
Jupiter was my soul mate. I didn’t know when I got him that he would be such a huge part of my life but he was almost instantly. He loved tuna, sleeping under blankets, and sunbathing with his sister, Hazel. His favorite spot to be though was laying on my chest with his head in my neck. He started cuddling with me like that when he was a baby and just never stopped. His purr made hard days feel lighter and good days sweeter. Almost five years with him wasn’t enough for me but no amount of time would ever be enough. He was my sweet, orange boy and I will never stop missing him.
I love you, Jupe.
Chicken
On Tuesday, May 10th, Our sweet Emma passed away from old age. She is survived by her owner and first companion Victoria Montgomery, 2nd in command Kristen Montgomery, Human brother Kolin, Big woofer Poseidon (P), Feline brother Simon, and swimmy friend, Finnigan.Emma was almost 19 years old. I (Victoria) adopted her from a vet I was working at when she was 13. She still had a lot of life left and I knew that after caring for her for a few months prior. Emma was like a dog and it didn’t take long before I started calling her Chicken. Chicken was by far one of my best friends, and this has hurt me beyond words. Her last almost 5 years were definitely golden and I hope she knew how much I and the rest of her family loved her. I will miss her yelling at me for food, treats, or pets. Water changes in Finnigan’s fish tank won’t ever be the same without Chickens help. Her waiting for me to come home and greeting me every single day. Waking me up in the mornings and her snuggles before bed every night. TV and movies binge watches without her on my chest is definitely an empty place without her. I hope that the life I gave her was enough for many more lives and I hope to reunite with her in time. Chicken was loved by many and will never be forgotten by any. Sleep well Sweet Chicken and I will meet you on the other side.

Summer Bailey James
Anyone that met Summer was lucky to know her. She loved everyone of any age and any species. Summer was so calm and loving, her favorite past time were getting belly rubs and eating lots of treats. Summer was such a happy girl that went along with the flow of anything. If you want to sleep in until 1pm or wake up at 5am, she was fine with either. She was the best dog, just such a sweet kind pure soul. The world will be empty without her beautiful spirit to brighten it up. We are so lucky to have been able to have her during her short time on this planet. Rest easy sweet Summer girl until we meet again one day. You are missed and loved by many.
Sleepy
Sleepy was born under a shed in Mechanicsville, VA in early 2008. He played in the woods with his mom and brothers for three months while the owners of the shed fed and socialized the kittens. Sleepy, the runt of the litter, seemed to always be sleeping more than his brothers, hence his name! Sleepy and some of his brothers eventually came to live at an apartment on Grace Street along with a bunch of animals already living there, including a dog, a guinea pig, and two cats. His brothers were quickly adopted, and Sleepy stayed with his human.
He was a special being: a curious and mischievous kitten and an affectionate, tolerant, and sweet adult cat in his later years. He went on many road trips and enjoyed lots of adventures, including camping with his human.
Sleepy lived in a few different homes, but one place had a large yard that he loved. He would lay in the sun, munch on grass, sharpen his claws on an old log, and hide under the foliage. He even had a Pitbull companion who would try to help him hunt and provide warmth during naps – but Sleepy only did this when he thought his human wasn’t looking.
When he first moved to the home with the yard he loved, he escaped and was missing for 5 awful weeks. His human was distraught and hung huge neon “missing” signs in the neighborhood, put up motion cameras in the yard, and checked all of the shelters and online adds for found cats. She even planned to have a blood hound come to track him down! She was never going to stop looking for her dear companion. Fortunately, Sleepy was found by a neighbor, way up high up in their tree. He had survived 5 weeks in the “wild” in the rain and the cold; he was skinny, bedraggled but otherwise OK. He never shared all that happened during that time, but his human was very grateful to have him back home.
Everyone he met remarked that he was a special cat. He was fearless, brave, and oh so confident – he was not a cat who hid when visitors arrived. He was king of his castle and he knew it!
He eventually moved with his human to live with her family. At his new residence, Sleepy loved to go on walks and he spent most days napping blissfully and providing comfort to his humans. He became sick and his humans discovered he was dying from cancer. His human did what she could to make him comfortable. He was dignified and calm until he died peacefully overnight while his human slept beside him. She loved and revered him. He was her constant companion and comfort and he is missed profoundly by his family.
