Pet Tales

Our pets feel like family members, and we grieve them the same way.  Your pet’s obituary may never make it to the local newspaper, but it can still provide an enormous amount of solace for you and any other family members or friends.

Always happy and loving, will be loved forever.
It has been over a week since we lost our dear Tucker. It is only now that we can talk

Lazarus

Our sweet boy was not supposed to be here. He was the 7th and final pup of the litter and momma never broke the sack to tend to him. He was found by his humans and life was breathed into and he was given the name Lazarus! He was born deaf and blind in one eye but that did not stop him from being a loving and faithful companion for 15 years!! He loved chin scratches and Sunday pancakes. He will be missed terribly.

Bunnie

Bunnie was the sweetest little love with the biggest personality. Bunnie would do the cutest grumble when she wanted to be held. She loved playing in water and outside, just as much as she enjoyed cuddling in the blankets. She loved giving kisses and snuggles to everyone.  She loved treats and learned how to hop in a circle. She will be missed more than I could ever explain. Bunnie was my source of comfort after my mom passing away.
She was taken from this world entirely too soon.

Lentil

My guinea pig Lentil had the strongest core strength I’ve seen in the 9 years I’ve had guinea pigs, she was violent crazy and smarter than me too. Good at tricks and puzzles and even learned to break out the cage at some point to try to eat plastic.  She came to me with her sister Rice who was sweet, happy and loved butt pets, I’m glad Rice was leave her where she knew was a loving home and I’m glad she’s finally free from pain and with her sister.

Diamond Pearl

At 6 months old, we welcomed Diamond to our family with open arms. We instantly fell in love with her sweet demeanor. Diamond was full of love & kisses and soaked up every ounce of attention that she received. She loved going for walks, riding in the car, even if it was just down the street and warm clothes, fresh out the dryer. Diamond’s heart was so full of love and as my daughter said, “she taught us the definition of unconditional love”. Words can not explain the pain we all feel without her here. We will forever carry a piece of our sweet girl in our hearts and cherish every joyful memory that she brought to our family. Until we meet again my friend.

Lucy

I have had my bunny Lucy ever since Covid year of 2020. She has been passed down to me from multiple families and I vowed I would be her forever home. Me and my sweet girl have been through so many adventures and has been absolutely spoiled like she was my own child. I would have done anything in the world for my sweet baby we had many good memories; from me chasing her around my bedroom at 12am trying to get her to stop eating my sandals and all of my chargers, to laying out in the yard in the sunshine eating fruits and veggies and letting me put flowers in her hair. She loved all of her siblings especially my cat Snow White loved her so much and would always lay down and watch tv with her and give her lots of kisses; even though it was unusual for a cat and a rabbit to get along as well as they did Lucy just has that kind of effect on everyone. Every animal that came across paths with Lucy got along with her. Lucy’s favorite toy of all time was paper towel rolls and would get so excited everyone would save a million of them just for her to play with. And her favorite snack was bananas, she would probably do a backflip just to get them. So I pray in heaven that she gets all the paper towel rolls, all the bananas, and all of the sandals and all of the “spicy hay” aka phone chargers that she could ever dream of. She had the most beautiful soul and was such a lovely companion and I am very grateful I found the Caring Pet Cremation Services and for David for taking such good care of her when she passed I will cherish my baby forever!!

Leo

Leo appeared in our back alley ten years ago, a silver ghost, out of the blue, the third rescued mutt off the streets.  We welcomed him into our family without hesitation.  Leo loved everyone and was always super excited to get up every day and greet us in bed.  He would get his breakfast and go out into the yard to hunt for figs, or whatever was growing in the garden.  He never attacked any dog, and even when another dog got aggressive, Leo stayed above the fray; unless you messed with his surviving bestie Honey Monkey.  Leo loved any visitor, reveling in the attention and giving love tirelessly, and was a useless watchdog.  Leo was just a big-hearted lover.  He will be forever missed in this life, but we know we will be reunited with him in the ever-after with our Lord.

Haze McMann

A beyond loved son and brother. Our wild child, the hole you’ve left in our hearts will take a life time to heal. Even though we only got a few shorts months to love you and enjoy your life we made so many memories. You were so funny, everyone you’ve ever met fell in love with you, on the worst of days you could always make us laugh. You might have been tiny but your personality was HUGE and we miss you so deeply. You were such a great companion and we are so thankful god picked us be your mommies and to be able to soak up all the love and joy you had to offer. Our hearts in pieces, you will be missed forever our sweet boy. We hope you’re with your big brother enjoying those big beautiful open fields and catching all the things you never got to down here. We love you so so much!! Until we meet again baby, rest in peace. ❤️ P.S. we miss nap time. 😭

Mr. Blue Newman

Thank you to David Nelson, who drove all the way to Richmond to save us on Sunday, August 17, 2025.

Sunday, August 17th at about 4:20 PM, Mr. Blue Newman suddenly left this world, much to Merley’s and my shock and horror.

He came into this world on November  10, 2017 and arrived at my house in early January 2018, to Mr. Buddy Wiggles’ and my delight.

He saved us from the grief of losing Fritzie and Mavie (2016 and 2017) and after a brief bout of jealousy, Blue became Buddy’s true Brother (and they really were half brothers).

While many thought he lived a charmed life, he did face physical challenges and some health conditions, always with courage and grace.

When we lost Buddy in 2023, Blue and I were devastated. So on August 31, 2024, we adopted Mr. Merley.

It has been over nine years since I have been without a Great Dane and I am heartbroken. But I am grateful that Blue’s passing was on his own terms and not some long drawn out painful saga. Momma always said, know when to leave the party.

So, while Merley and I are struggling today, tomorrow we will return to doggie day care and work and together we will carry on.

Blue joins his brother, Buddy and all the lates and greats I’ve been lucky enough to call my four legged children.

Trouble

Always happy and loving, will be loved forever.

Tucker

It has been over a week since we lost our dear Tucker. It is only now that we can talk about him without being overcome by his loss. He was a kind, sweet, maniac that everyone loved. While he was almost 15 years old, in his heart he was forever three.  His favorite place was the river where he could roam, play, and take an occasional swim. And it was at the river where Tucker passed away. Tucker, we will always love you and miss you every day.
