Buddy was a Maltipoo, originally adopted from a shelter in Iowa by an assisted living facility in my home town. He would live with a particular resident and keep everyone else company in the memory care unit. When my dad finally went there, he requested to be placed in memory care so he could be with Buddy. Eventually, Buddy moved in with my dad, and they were inseparable. When Dad passed, no one else in the unit expressed interest in Buddy, and he was lonely. The facility eventually contacted me about adopting him, and my sister in St. Louis jumped at the chance. She kept Buddy for 8 years until it was no longer possible for her to care for him, and I took over from there. Everyone Buddy ever met fell in love with him. He was sweet and gentle and loved people. He loved his daily walks, and lived for treats as often as he could get them. In the 10 years I knew him, I heard him bark exactly twice. He was well loved and cared for, and I hope he is now in doggie heaven. Rest in peace, sweet Buddy.
